Governor of Pakistan's Sindh province Imran Ismail has tested positive for coronavirus.

The governor confirmed the development in a tweet on Monday: "I have just been tested Covid-19 positive, Allah Kareem inshallah will fight it out."

Ismail has placed himself into self-isolation at his residence. The governor told a TV channel that has not developed symptoms of the disease so far.

"Yesterday, my mother came to meet me. We had our iftar. Later, I felt fever and thought to undergo coronavirus test. I should have kept myself under isolation since yesterday's night."

Ismail said his family members and mother would also undergo Covid-19 tests soon.

The governor has informed the people whom he met in the last couple of days about his condition.

Earlier on April 27, Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani had contracted novel coronavirus. He later recovered after a week.
