Audiences in the UAE will be the first to witness the official trailer of south Indian film Madhura Raja, said the movie's lead actor Mammootty.
The movie's official release date - April 12 - was announced at a Press conference in Dubai on Thursday. Madhura Raja is an upcoming Indian Malayalam action film starring Mammootty and Jai in the lead roles.
Mammootty reprises his role Raja from the 2010 film Pokkiri Raja. Other actors in the movie are Salim Kumar, Jai, Anusree, Siddique, and Ramesh Pisharody.
Action choreographer Peter Hein, who worked on the stunt sequences of the movie, said he worked his hardest in this movie and has pushed the actors to bring out the best in them.
The movie is expected to seize pole position in India as well as the UAE, as the prequel to Madhura Raja - Pokkiri Raja - did exceptionally well in the box office. However, the actor said the movie is not a prequel or a sequel.
"There are no time limitations in the movie. I, along with actors Salim Kumar and Innocent, have reprised our roles in the movie. It's an entertainer for people of all ages. A seven-year-old as well as an 70-year-old will enjoy it," Mammootty told Khaleej Times.
He said the movie has the potential to be a franchise, and it could be a trend going forward for Malayalam cinema. "Avengers is on it's 14th sequel. Why can't poor Raja reprise his role once," joked the actor.
The movie was shot over a period of four months, and will also be released in Tamil and Telugu. A promotional event and meet and greet with the actors is expected to take place at Al Wahda Mall in Abu Dhabi today. The movie will release close to Vishu, Kerala's harvest festival.
