Grade 12 students in the UAE have been asked to register for enrollment in higher institutions so they don't miss out on admissions for the next academic year.
The Ministry for Higher Education and Scientific Research said the students in grade 12 for the academic year 2019-2020 should register for enrollment in universities and other higher education institutions and for foreign scholarships to secure places for their future education.
The ministry said it has also extended the period for registration in government higher education institutions and for foreign scholarships until May 16.
Officials said male and female students wishing to enroll in government universities and higher institutions such as UAE University, Higher Colleges of Technology, Zayed University, Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi Polytechnic, Fatima College of Health Sciences, Abu Dhabi Institute for Vocational Education and Training, Sorbonne University and external missions can apply or register with all required information and documents via the following link: https://www.moe.gov.ae/Ar/EServices/ServiceCard/pages/RegistrationPublic.aspx or access the student's online portal through the Ministry's website, www.moe.gov.ae
The students must include in their application, all the data on this page with the need to ensure the correctness of the information entered in relation to (ID card number, mobile phone number, email)
Students wanting to enroll in government universities are allowed to select only two educational institutions or external missions while applying online- with a specialization programmes for each institution which should be in line with what they had pursued in their school curriculum in government and private schools.
The students admissions are announced after the final results for all grade 12 students have been released.
Universities begin admitting students online
Bassam Murra, director of enrollment and registration at Abu Dhabi University told Khaleej Times that everything is now available online.
"Students can apply online and book virtual meeting with the admission Counselor. We also run virtual workshops and information sessions," he said.
According to Murra grade 12 students can apply from now for admission because the admission is already open for Summer and Fall . Applications can be submitted via our website https://www.adu.ac.ae/study/admissions/how-to-apply
Explaining how students can choose good courses, the official said: "A student can book virtual meeting with his academic advisor or with the admission Counselor to choose the right program and get help to choose courses as per his study plan once he has enrolled in a program."
Murra noted Summer Classes at Abu Dhabi University will start June 28 and Fall semester will start on Sunday, Aug 30.
Al-Qasimiya University in Sharjah has also started remote interviews of candidates for admission for the next academic year 2020-2021. The interviews are conducted only for the applications that meet the conditions for joining the university to study in its colleges (Sharia and Islamic Studies, the College of the Holy Quran, the College of Arts and Humanities, the College of Communication and the College of Economics).
Prof. Rashad Salem, Director of Al Qasimiya University said that the university has so far received 4,000 applicants wanting to enroll for the next academic year. Their applications were from 71 countries from across the world.
"The university will work to accept 300 students in the first semester, within the framework of its policy to focus on the quality of education outcomes to graduate students who can serve their home countries around the world," he said.
NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) says admission to university is highly selective and students will need to demonstrate, through their application: academic excellence, sustained and meaningful extracurricular involvement, strong and supportive letters of recommendation, commitment to supporting a global, interconnected community through service and leadership.
"The application process is time-consuming and we ask for a great deal of information (in order to better evaluate your candidacy). Do not save anything until the last minute," said the university.
Students have been advised to speak with their high school counselor about applying to universities, visit websites, attend information sessions, and learn more about their university options.
