Delhi Bulls have signed Sri Lankan cricketer all-rounder Angelo Mathews for the upcoming Abu Dhabi T10 League.
Delhi have picked Angelo as an extra squad member as a back up for Mohammed Nabi and Sherfane Rutherford, a press release stated.
The two players will miss the opening two games and will join the Delhi squad on the 18th after the conclusion of the Afghanistan versus West Indies series.
Speaking about this signing, Team Mentor Anis Sajan said: "Our coach Stephen Fleming has always stressed on the need to have a good balance of experience and youth.
"Missing Nabi and Rutherford for a few games meant we needed to stock up on an experienced campaigner, and Angelo fits that very well."
"I am happy that Angelo has made himself available for all the games, " Anis added.
Fleming added, "With Angelo we get a cool and calm cricketer who has a knack of finishing games. We have seen it on the world stage with Sri Lanka, and I am confident we will see it in T10 this month."
He joins his fellow countrymen Kusal Perera and Dushmantha Chameera in a squad packed with stars such as captain Eoin Morgan, Shoaib Malik, Zaheer Khan, Adil Rashid and Sohail Tanvir.
Abu Dhabi T10 League starts from November 15 at the Zayed Cricket Stadium and Delhi play the first match against Deccan Gladiators.
